Vacuum cleaner helps keep your room clean and fresh by getting rid of dust, dirt and other particles that usually lodged on the floor or in the room carpet. Actually if you do not perfectly maintain your vacuum, it often starts emitting a foul odor instead of keeping the room environment fresh. However, you can still prevent your lovely machine from smelling bad by keeping its insides clean and it’s even possible to release your preferable fresh scent while vacuuming with minimal effort and expense.
If you want to release a fresh scent from your machine while vacuuming and most importantly protect your vacuum from odor smell, simply follow my given instructions below:
Step 1 – Clean the Vacuum:
Stinky bags are often the main culprit for bad smelling vacuum. So change the bag if your machine uses them. Usually you need to change the bag once in every 2 to 3 months to keep your vacuum free from disgusting odor. In case you are using bagless vacuum, you should empty the canister and then clean the filters properly in soapy water. And don’t forget to dry the filters completely before reassembling the machine again.
Step 2 – Change the Filter:
Vacuum cleaners have filters to keep the allergens, dirt and dust out of the air. If your filters are getting too older, they might not be eligible to make your room fresh. For better results, change your vacuum filters every 3 to 6 months in order to keep your machine in optimal shape. While changing the air filter, always follow the instructions provided with the air filters to retain your machine in optimal shape again.
Step 3 – Insert Perfume Pads:
You may think about using perfume pads on your vacuum so that it releases gentle scent while vacuuming. Buy scented pads that attract you most and place the pads over the top filter of your vacuum. At this, once you turn on the machine, it will releases fresh scent as the air passes through the perfumed pads.
Step 4 – Add Cinnamon:
Cinnamon also works great for protecting vacuum from emitting bad odor. The strong smell of cinnamon counteracts with the bad smell of dust that the vacuum starts providing a gentle scent. Simply sprinkle a small amount of cinnamon into your vacuum’s bag or into the machine’s debris compartment and that’s it!! In case, you don’t like cinnamon smell, they try dried orange or coffee beans or similar other sweet smelling food items. They will also do the job too!
Step 5 – Clean with Baking Soda:
Make a solution of baking soda and water and clean your vacuum cleaner’s filters, canister and hose with this solution and finally rinse them with clean water. Dry all the plastic and metal items of your machine with a clean cloth and let the filters air dry. Then reassemble the machine at last.
Use these simple but really effective methods to protect your vacuum cleaner from smelling bad. Try to use your vacuum not just to clean your room, but to freshen up your house from now on.
